Social Value
Our Commitment to Social Value
At Placecube, our social value policy is rooted in our core values and the principle of "doing the right thing." This commitment isn't just an add-on; it is woven into the very fabric of our business model. We co-design people-centred solutions that empower the public sector, ensuring our services are affordable, accessible, and transformational.
This policy applies to every facet of our business, including our employees, clients, customers, partners, and suppliers.
Our Goal: Net Zero by 2030
We recognise that environmental health is fundamental to societal wellbeing. We are actively reducing our carbon footprint through:
- Remote-First Culture: All employees and contractors work from home, eliminating daily commuting. Face-to-face meetings are held only when essential, with a strong preference for public transport.
- Digital-First Operations: We utilise digital tools to minimise paper use and procure supplies from environmentally friendly sources.
- Zero Waste Initiatives: We have ceased the use of "branded goodies" at conferences and are moving toward more sustainable alternatives.
- Circular Economy: We recycle and refurbish computer equipment and mobile devices, preventing e-waste while supporting those in digital poverty.
- The Knowledge Hub: We provide a free-to-use open knowledge exchange platform for the public and not-for-profit sectors, facilitating best-practice sharing and skills development.
- The Local Digital Declaration: We fully embrace the spirit of this declaration. We build on open standards and open-source technology, ensuring the public sector never pays twice for the same development.
- Community Wellbeing: We prioritise the mental health of our team and partners, supported by our appointed Mental Health First Aiders.
- Open-Source Freedom: Because Digital Place is open-source and non-proprietary, our customers can choose to resource projects internally or through local supply chains, keeping investment within their local communities.
- Removing Barriers to Growth: Our standard subscription includes multi-agency use at no additional cost. This allows community groups and partner organisations to use our platform, fostering local economic collaboration.
- Productivity through Integration: By automating front-end citizen connections and back-end system integrations, we reduce administrative burdens and procedural waste for our clients.
To ensure these objectives are met, we maintain a robust Social Value Action Plan. This plan is reviewed at least annually by our Senior Leadership Team as part of our business planning process.
We are committed to transparently communicating our progress to our stakeholders through our recruitment processes, procurement, and regular team briefings.
