Placecube delivers an integrated digital learning and membership platform for TIAH

The Institute for Agriculture and Horticulture (TIAH) is the professional body for people working in farming and growing. It was established to support skills development, lifelong learning and professional recognition across a sector facing significant workforce, productivity and skills challenges. TIAH wanted to create an accessible digital service that would bring professional development, careers information and membership services together in one place. The platform needed to serve a diverse audience, including experienced farmers and growers, agricultural and horticultural businesses, students, new entrants, training providers and careers advisers. Following a competitive procurement, Placecube was appointed to deliver TIAH’s integrated digital platform for continuing professional development (CPD), careers and professional membership.

The challenge

Information about agricultural and horticultural careers, training and professional development was available from many different sources. For users, this could make it difficult to understand which skills they needed, find relevant learning opportunities and maintain a reliable record of their development.

TIAH required more than a conventional website or learning management system. It needed an integrated digital experience through which people could:

  • Create and manage their individual membership profile
  • Assess their existing knowledge and skills
  • Identify development priorities
  • Receive personalised learning recommendations
  • Find relevant courses and learning resources
  • Record completed training and other CPD activities
  • Demonstrate their skills and professional development
  • Explore careers and progression opportunities within the sector

The service also needed to present a large and growing body of information in a clear, approachable way for users with different roles, backgrounds and levels of digital confidence.

Placecube has been a trusted and collaborative partner to TIAH. Their team took the time to understand our organisation, our users and the agriculture and horticulture community we serve. They combined strong technical expertise with a practical and responsive approach, delivering a flexible, high-quality digital platform aligned with our needs.

The solution

Placecube worked collaboratively with TIAH to understand the organisation’s objectives and the needs of the farming and growing community. This informed the design and delivery of an integrated platform combining TIAH’s public website, professional membership services, careers information and Learning Hub.

At the heart of the service is a personalised member experience. Users can build a profile of their skills and development needs and access learning recommendations relevant to their circumstances and objectives. The platform brings together learning resources, online courses, professional tools and training information, helping users find appropriate development opportunities without having to search across multiple sources.

The platform’s CPD capabilities enable members to record their learning and achievements in one place. This provides individuals with a clearer view of their development and allows them to evidence their knowledge, skills and commitment to professionalism.

Placecube also delivered the digital foundations for TIAH’s Capability Profile and Learning Hub. These services connect users’ skills assessments and development goals with suitable learning resources, creating a more tailored experience than a conventional catalogue of courses.

The wider platform provides access to careers guidance, industry job profiles, Essential Skills learning, practical resources and information for students and new entrants. Group membership capabilities also help agricultural and horticultural businesses manage staff development, set learning goals and monitor progress through a secure online dashboard.

The results

Placecube combined technical delivery with a practical, user-focused approach. The team worked closely with TIAH and its stakeholders to translate a complex service vision into a coherent digital experience. The platform was designed to make information and functionality easy to navigate while supporting different user journeys and membership types. Its flexible structure allowed TIAH to manage content, introduce new learning resources and respond to feedback from farmers, growers and industry stakeholders.

The completed platform gives the agriculture and horticulture community a single digital destination for skills, learning, careers and professional development.

Members can assess their capabilities, identify skills gaps, receive personalised recommendations and maintain a record of their learning. Students and new entrants can explore career opportunities and access sector-specific guidance, while employers can use group tools to support workforce development and demonstrate training and compliance.

User feedback published by TIAH has highlighted the platform’s clear and intuitive interface, the quality of its learning resources and the relevance of its personalised course recommendations.

Following implementation, Placecube continued to provide technical support and development services, helping TIAH operate and enhance the platform as its services were introduced.

We are proud to have partnered with TIAH to deliver a single digital destination that addresses the pressing workforce and skills challenges across agriculture and horticulture. By combining membership services, personalised learning, and CPD tracking into a clear, intuitive platform, we've helped empower farmers, growers, and agricultural businesses to assess their skills, track their progress, and advance their careers with confidence.
